I was recently looking through my wardrobe and I felt like I needed a few new items. Something to freshen up the daily choice of what to wear. I try not to buy clothes too often, firstly because I don’t always have loads of extra cash around and try to watch my spending but also because I’m trying to cut down on the consumption of fast fashion because of its impact on the environment.

Having said that, I do think it’s occasionally nice to spruce up the wardrobe with a few fresh items while recycling or upcycling old things you don’t wear anymore. Personally, I find that if I’m feeling a bit dull or ‘meh’, having something new that I love and feel good in gives me that extra boost of self-confidence that I sometimes need. So I did a massive wardrobe clear out, donated the majority to charity shops and recently headed online to Yours Clothing to do a little shopping.

Yours Clothing is a plus size fashion brand with UK sizes 16-40 and ship worldwide. Like most people, I like to shop with many different brands but I never miss checking Yours as they always have so many options and are constantly bringing new arrivals. It’s nice to have a brand who specialise in plus size clothing, giving us so many options rather than the average plus size section just being an extra or an afterthought in the back corner of a shop.

Anyway, I thought I’d do a try on haul of what I bought to give you more of an idea of what the items actually look like on and let you know what I thought. It’s only a small haul but I’ll link each item for you and I’ve also made a short video which I’ll also link at the end of this post which I think really gives a better view of the items. For reference, I am a size 22 and 5 ft 5. I found everything I ordered to be true to size so it is all in a size 22.

• Black Floral Double Layer Smock Dress – £23.99

I have to admit when I first tried this on a few days ago before I filmed the video, I wasn’t a massive fan of it. I really liked the poppy pattern and how it looked from the front but I didn’t love the ruffles across the middle and I thought the fit was a little tight at the back. Now that I’ve tried it on again though, I quite like it! I actually quite like the ruffles now! It’s funny how you can change your mind about something depending on your mood or confidence level.

I like the length of the dress, it’s a little lower than mid-thigh so I would wear it with tights, especially as the material is very thin so it could easily blow up with the slightest draft of wind. This dress is limited collection so if you like the look of it, make sure you pick it up fast! All in all, I’m still a little undecided but I’m definitely considering it and what had once been packed back into the bag to send back… is probably now a keeper.

• Mustard Floral Pocket Swing Dress – £17.99

You’ll soon realise there’s a bit of a pattern (pun intended) here with over half the items I ordered having a floral pattern! This item was a bit of a hit and miss. I really, really wanted to like it. I mean, it’s mustard, it has pockets, it’s comfy and spacious. What’s not to like? But it just doesn’t do it for me. I don’t know what it is about it. It’s knee length which I do like. It’s comfortable and roomy so if that’s what you’re looking for then this could be it. However personally, it’s a little too shapeless for me. I know it’s meant to be and sometimes I do like that but this dress just isn’t for me.

• Navy Floral Tiered Smock Dress – £26.99

Next is this lovely navy, floral dress which I definitely like. The fit is nice, it’s very comfortable and lightweight with a thin, breathable material which feels fresh. I like the length of the dress, perfect for the classy overall style of it. I also really like the v-neck with the cute buttons down the front and love that the sleeves are adjustable. They’re ¾ length sleeves but you can roll them up and keep them in place with the tab so you can wear it both ways, casual or a little more dressed up. This dress is definitely a keeper!

• Black and Pink Floral Skater Dress – £23.99

I think I’m in love with this dress. It goes without saying that just like the dress before, this is definitely a keeper! I LOVE this dress. It is without doubt my favourite item from this list (and honestly my favourite item that I’ve bought in a really long time!). It’s a sleeveless, knee length skater dress with a notch neckline. It looks elegant and classy but remains incredibly comfortable with a lovely fit. The colourful floral design is just beautiful (and kind of reminds me of my Mexican heritage which I love). It’s on offer so if you like it make sure you grab it soon as I have a feeling they won’t last long.

I have a big family event coming up soon so I’m really looking forward to wearing this dress then!

• Grey ‘No thanks’ Slogan Sweatshirt – £19.99

Now this sweatshirt looked long on the model so I should’ve realised it was going to be even longer on me! Having said that, I actually quite like how long it is. It’s incredibly soft and comfortable and that combined with the oversized length makes it feel very cosy. Yours also has this sweatshirt in different colours and with different slogans.

You could pair this with leggings for a cute, comfy and casual look. I also tried it tucked into a mini skirt (not from Yours) to give it a different look which also worked well. It’s so soft you could probably even use this as a winter nightie and sleep in it! Either way, I’ll be keeping this soft, cosy, long sleeved sweatshirt. So it’s a yes from me.

• Black Heart Print Tie Front Blouse – £21.99

This cute heart print blouse ties at the front and makes for a comfortable, roomy top. It has a lightweight, breathable material which makes it feel very fresh. I like the design of the v-neckline and short turn up sleeves together. Having said that I wasn’t a massive fan of the length difference between the front and the back. I know it’s a tie at the front blouse therefore it’ll be shorter where it ties but the back was just a little too long so it made the fit look slightly odd but that might just be me being a little picky! I’m still undecided on this blouse so will give it a think.

• Black Leather Midi Skirt – £21.99

Unfortunately, just like the mustard swing dress from earlier this was also a hit and miss for me. I love midi length skirts and I honestly thought I would really love this leather piece. However, the fit just didn’t suit me so it was a big no from me. (It looked great on the model though so if you like the look, give it a go! It just wasn’t for me).

That’s everything I ordered apart from some underwear which I don’t feel the need to share but let me tell you that they are very comfortable! Naturally there were a few things that didn’t convince me which means I’ll be returning them however I found some lovely new items that I can’t wait to wear (like the black and pink floral dress of dreams!) so all in all I’d say it was a successful shop.
